Australian Scripte Centre Playroom Appeal

What is this appeal for?

The Australian Script Centre is a nonprofit organisation that since 1979 has been building a unique and culturally important collection of Australian plays. The playscripts are largely unpublished and are increasingly vulnerable to damage through aging and lack of appropriate storage. We are fundraising to help us create a "Play Room" which is both a physical and a virtual space. The physical space will allow us to ensure that the scripts are well preserved and protected. In the virtual space, digital copies of the scripts will be made available online for study and broad access.

How the funds will be used?
The ASC is an incorporated organisation governed by a Board and operated by a staff of three. These funds will be used to preserve the collection, establish the "Play Room" and develop links with the theatre, library and education sectors to ensure it's ongoing and long-term use.

Project co-ordinator
Small scale capital - appropriate storage and preservation materials
IT support and expertise to digitise the collection and develop online access
