Cycle for the Environment

What is this appeal for?

To support ongoing activities to promote cycling across Australia, particularly through emphasising the environmental benefits of cycling. These activities include:

Cycling as a means of protecting the environment; and to establish and maintain the BFA Cycle for the Environment fund for the specific purpose of supporting the environmental objects of the BFA;

Cycling as a popular, practical, healthy and environmentally sustainable form of transport, recreation and tourism;

Enjoyable cycling;

Best practice in cycling facilities and programs to support cycling;

The creation of a transport system that is environmentally sustainable, convenient, comfortable, coherent, safe and attractive for all users;

Aware and well-informed cyclists and motorists; and

Well informed and supportive governments and community.

How will the funds be used?
The BFA employs one Executive Director and one Project Manager, both of whom are part-time. These staff undertake a variety of activities described below.

Key areas of expenditure for funds donated:

Advocacy at a federal government level - to benefit all Australians who ride bicycles;
Sharing information with members and helping to strengthen them;
Projects and events that contribute to the work of the BFA and produce benefits for cyclists.
