Breakaway Infrastructure Appeal

What is this appeal for?
The Management committee, the management and staff at Breakaway work passionately and assiduously at providing the highest quality service to our clients in a compassionate and professional way. Our services include social support or community access (to assist our clients meet their needs for social contact), in-home respite and residential/holiday respite.

The demand for our services and our ability to continue to offer those services at the highest level is being compromised by our inability to offer such services through appropriate and fully accessible premises. This is the case for the second of our respite houses that our organisation currently runs (a leased property). Because this house is not adequate to offer full and complete care to all our clients, we have purchased land and are now seeking to build a second fully accessible respite house that will be appropriate to all our clients' needs.

As a Not For Profit organization, it is not in our charter to make a profit; therefore, our capacity to service a debt is limited. We ask that you give generously to our appeal, and we guarantee these facilities will make a big impact on improving the lives of many of the most disadvantaged of our community.


How will the funds be used?
All gifts go toward our current projects, which include:
  • A second purpose-built guesthouse on the block of land we already own - Approximate cost: $450,000-$5000,000
  • An accessible vehicle to replace our old one - Approximate cost: $50,000
  • A new portable hoist to replace the existing one - Approximate cost: $5,000
  • An all-weather outdoor activity area for our Highfields guesthouse - Approximate cost: $15,000

Key areas of expenditure for funds donated:
  • Funds raised will go towards our identified necessary projects
