To allow local and family history to be researched by the community ... We have a library open to the public (no borrowing) and  we are able to do research  by mail. Our library covers early history  and genealogical research material on all states + the British IGI  and  other material.

The Intent of Portland Family History Group:

Recent Accomplishments of Portland Family History Group:

One of our members has written four locl history books and is working on a fifth.

We are involved with the "Admella" wreck commemoration (2009)

150th Anniversary of a shipwreck that took 80+ lives. 22 lived

Participation in Portland Family History Group:

The group is open for everyone to join or participate in.

Meeting Venue:

Currently Fawthrop Centre Hood St. Portland.

Normally  History House Off Cliff St. Portland (Local paper will be notified when)

The venue is not wheelchair accessible.

Meeting Times:

monthly  Second Wednesday 7.30pm

Membership Fees:

$15 annual. Concession $10
