KPV proudly established the Early Childhood Education Foundation in 1997 to address concerns that many Victorian families were not accessing preschool due to financial hardship. A substantial number of children in Victoria are missing out on a year of preschool. The foundation provides assistance to supplement the preschool funding made available by the Department of Human Services (DHS) in Victoria. DHS provides a per capita grant for all eligible four-year-old children to attend one year of preschool.
KPV believes that all young children and their families should have access to high-quality educational programs, which provide a stimulating, safe and caring environment. These programs aim to promote the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of skills and competencies for children. This is achieved through child centred, professionally supported and play-orientated programs.
The foundation strives to:
• Ensure that all children have access to early childhood education services which will enhance their opportunities to succeed in life by providing funds that contribute to attendance fees.
• Develop a program where the community, preschool services, other organisations and the corporate sector assist children to access early childhood educational programs.
