Domestic Violence Emergency Appeal

Domestic Violence Emergency Appeal

By: Dvconnect - Domestic and Family Violence Service QLD

What is this appeal for?
Dvconnect is a 24hr help line servicing all of Queensland for women, men, children and their pets if necessary who are affected by domestic or family violence. The service takes around 2,700 calls a month from women and on average rescues about 354 of them with approximately 367 children and moves them to safe locations all across the state, and sometimes even interstate. About 6 of these families each month also require their pets moved to safe location in order to avoid retribution. Planes, trains, boats and/or cars, whatever is necessary, dvconnect finds a way.

While women are usually the victims, this is not always the case. dvconnect provides an important help line for men - trained counselors provide guidance on how to avoid using violence in relationships. If needed, dvconnect can also offer help for men going through court proceedings in relation to domestic and family violence matters.

Whether you are a long time supporter, or a first time donor, we thank you for your generosity. Together we will make a difference.
