In the past few weeks:

  • Regional Victorian sexual diversity organisation WayOut has used Twitter to help supporters follow a discrimination case playing out in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal
  • The Victorian disability services board has capitalised on an election stumble by a former Liberal Party leader to get a letter published in a major daily paper
  • National advocacy group GetUp has harnessed the power of its membership base to raise more than $300,000 and broadcast an election-focussed ad in the mainstream media
  • World Vision Australia has hitched a ride on the popular “Old Spice Guy” advertisement, with CEO Tim Costello appearing in their own version of the ad in a bathrobe. The ad, posted to YouTube, has received more than 25,000 views.
