Galilee - Care That Creates Futures

What is this appeal for?

For over 20 years, Galilee has cared for disadvantaged and at-risk babies, children and young people in the Canberra region. It is a sad fact that young people are at ever increasing risk, and the need for intensive support and assistance grows rapidly each year. To assist with this demand Galilee runs an alternative educational program for young people who find mainstream schools too difficult to attend. This program is known as the Galilee School. Our teachers are committed to making certain that these young people get the education they deserve by using a 1:3 teacher-student ratio model.

Galilee also runs a Foster Placement Scheme, and the Galilee Transport and Supervision Program. Through these programs, Galilee provides intensive support and case management to Foster Carers, and transport and supervised contact for young people hoping to re-connect with their birth families.

For Galilee to continue its focused work within the community, we need your support. Please give generously so that we can continue expanding and perfecting our programs.

How will the funds be used?
We will use the money you donate to continue to provide services for the disadvantaged babies, children and young people of Canberra and the surrounding region. Your support could fund an additional teacher to work with the young people at the Galilee School. It could go towards an additional staff member to assist with teaching indigenous young people about their heritage and the importance of self-worth. Your donation may go towards the purchase of a new vehicle to transport Foster Care children to supervised access with their birth families. It may even create a new playground for the young people to play on at the Galilee School.

Key areas of expenditure for funds donated:

The provision of teaching staff for the Galilee School
Maintenance and upgrade of the Galilee School
Purchase and/or maintenance of Galilee vehicles for the Supervision and Transport Services
Support and training for new Foster Care parents
