What is this appeal for?
House of Restoration (HR) is based in Box Hill and Braybrook, with partnerships developing in PNG and Darwin. HR provides assistance to the disadvantaged, homeless, and those from broken families through programs and services which promote a sense of belonging and purpose. By creating a strong support network and family environment, we aim to facilitate personal restoration and empower people to achieve lasting change that will improve their well-being and enable them to make a positive contribution in their world.
House of Restoration does not receive any government funding and therefore depends on private sponsorship in order to run its programs. The funds will support programs run by House of Restoration.
House of Restoration Programs:
- Computer programs - facilities have been set up in Braybrook to offer computer training courses to the community. Through these courses we aim to integrate people from different cultural backgrounds into the wider community; thereby raising the self-esteem of people so they don't feel as though they are marginalised.
- Shining Light - which aims to provide educational resources to schools within Fiji and other Pacific nations. Our desire is to see young people in the Pacific Islands have a quality education, build their confidence and to become young men and women of integrity who will lead the next generation with honesty and wisdom.
- D'Light which consists of a group of creative young people with a powerful message. Through performing arts D'Light aims to encourage and inspire young people all over the world to unleash the potential they have and to strive to make a difference in their world. Our dance styles include cultural dancing, salsa, funk and R'n'B, contemporary dance and interpretive dance.
- LINC (Linking Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Communities) is dedicated to building bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians and providing support and services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a culturally appropriate way. Through positive relationships, mentoring and practical services, we hope to facilitate better quality of life, restoration and strong leadership within Australia's Indigenous community.
