Community Early Learning Australia – Board Treasurer/Director (Volunteer)

About CELA: Community Early Learning Australia (CELA) is the voice for Australia’s early education and care sector. As a peak body, we advocate for quality education and care for all Australian children.  We provide expert support and guidance for over 1,800 members employing more than 27,000 education and teachers nationally.

Our mission is to:

  • Deliver effective and expert support for our members, enabling them to deliver quality early education and care for all Australia’s children.
  • Influence policy makers and government by amplifying the voices of community based and small providers.
  • Promote the value and importance of community based early education.

CELA is a not-for-profit association funded by member contributions and income generated through the delivery of training programs and consulting services.

About the opportunity:

We are seeking to gain the service of an experienced Director to join our Board, as Treasurer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join a passionate group on a voluntary basis, and help develop and shape and exciting future for our sector.

Essential competencies include the ability to think and influence strategy, financial literacy, risk management an understanding of best practice corporate governance and a capacity to work collaboratively with other Board members and the CEO.

An understanding of the commitment to the strategic vision and values of CELA, knowledge of early education and the community services sector and an AICD qualification would be highly regarded.

The CELA Board boasts a diverse range of experience, and are currently seeking specific skills, abilities and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance and accounting
  • Risk management and compliance
  • Law
  • Contemporary Corporate Governance

The successful applicant would need to commit the necessary time to satisfactorily meet their responsibilities (up to 3 hrs per week). Travel and expenses will be paid by CELA.
