Caladenia Dementia Care in Mooroolbark is looking to appoint additional Board Directors. This is an exciting time for our organisation and Board, with ongoing recognition of our highly regarded services and our focus on future growth.

Caladenia was established in 1983 and is funded to provide dementia specific social support to anyone in our community living with dementia. The organisation also provides services to people living with Younger Onset Dementia, and people in receipt of Home Care Packages. Our latest innovative program provides a weekend training retreat for those newly diagnosed with dementia and their carers to attend together.

Many dementia services have closed down since covid, and we have waiting lists as we try to meet the increasing community need. So many of us have been touched by Dementia amongst our families and friends, and this has moved many of our volunteers, including Board members, to become involved with our organisation.

Caladenia is an innovative and financially sound organisation, and you will be joining a skills based and cohesive volunteer Board and working with an established CEO and experienced Board Chair. We have a strategic direction that is focused on getting ahead of upcoming sector reform, and expanding our services, locations, and offerings to enable more people to participate in our programs.

The organisation is looking for suitable candidates with skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Marketing and communications, to help position us for future growth
  • Business development, growth, and/or commercial expertise, to help us develop our offerings
  • Building construction or refurbishment and/or management expertise, to help us look after our existing buildings and access new locations
  • Potential to be considered within our succession planning for the Chair role

 

In these positions there will be significant opportunity for growth and development due to the changes happening within the sector and our organisation. We would welcome first time Directors and would particularly love to hear from local community members.
