Surabaya Health for the Poor Appeal

What is this appeal for?

Health needs of slum dwellers in Surabaya Indonesia are not being met simply because the people cannot afford it. We are talking of communities that live in cemeteries, amongst the tombs, that camp under bridges and by canals – they are desperately poor and live in shanties where their lives only just exist. The International Needs Australia partner in Surabaya, Indonesia is Pondok Kasih (House of Love) and they are providing answers to this problem through their Community Health Program.

How will the funds be used?

In funding the ongoing work of the Community Health Program where doctors, nurses and dentists travel to bring vital health care to people in slum communities. Without these help poor people suffer from major diseases and sometimes even minor afflictions cause great suffering as left untreated the problem worsens. Without help from this program thousands of people will continue to suffer from disease and disability that modern medicine can easily relieve.
