A great urgency:
There is a great urgency for us to get back into the streets of Frankston due to a great increase of homeless and troubled youth. We are about to organise a team to go out there to meet the needy and offer our services of counselling, drug/alcohol rehabilitation and also we will try to assist the homeless. For many years we have been out there with our Van meeting the needy and giving out food and drinks and also inviting them to our coffee shop to befriend them.
When Julie needed to slow down due to two hip operations, we had to stop this outreach arm, but still operated in the areas of counselling, rehabilitation and conducting seminars. Now we are ready again for street outreach. Our premises have been renovated and improved. We now can offer the young people a cinema-like atmosphere, where we invite them to watch wholesome and instructive movies.
We also would need more funds to purchase further instructive programs in equipping members of our community with the skills needed to better manage their lives and help others to do the same.
There are many needs in our community that we will be addressing:
Some of these include: Troubled youth, depression, suicide, addictions, the restoration of broken families, the sexually abused, domestic violence, grief, trauma and crisis situations. We identified these needs through years of service in our community and through counselling members from all backgrounds.
How will the funds be used?
The most urgent need at this point is a Van in order to be able to reach those in need and offer.
We also are still in need of materials to facilitate the afore-mentioned services, such as books, teaching videos/DVD's, workbooks, etc.
