New Hope Refugee Appeal

What is this appeal for?

We need your donation to help us assist newly arrived refugee and humanitarian entrants who are living in poverty throughout Victoria via our unique state wide service.

Who we assist:

The majority of our clients have been in Australia for less than one year and come from countries where civil strife and conflict have displaced significant numbers of people, including Bosnia, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Croatia, Iran and Afghanistan. In terms of family composition, both individuals and families have made use of the material aid service. They are predominantly young families with infants and pre school children. The majority of families are on some form of social security payment.

We are also responding to the increasing needs of temporary protection visa holders (TPVs) who have been recognised as refugees but are only entitled to remain in Australia on a temporary basis and have limited access to support networks. Their need for material aid support is particularly pressing.

Once families have been assessed and personally selected goods that they require, a truck service is available every Thursday to deliver theses goods to families as well as to pick up any donations. We also work in close collaboration with other support and welfare services to ensure that the broader settlement needs of refugees and migrants are adequately addressed.

Securing longer term accommodation
Assisting families from their first arrival at the airport

Will I receive a receipt for my donation? Yes, though it will be delayed as it is sent by New Hope Foundation Inc.
