A community initiative, supported by Shire of Nillumbik.
Description:
An exciting opportunity exists for women in Shire of Nillumbik to join a skills exchange program with refugee women from Africa and Burma, through a partnership with Centacare Melbourne's refugee settlement program. We are seeking women with creative and practical skills they can share with these women that will assist them to start a small community business. We are also seeking women who can help support the refugees emotional 'healing'. Relevant skills include cooking, sewing, weaving, knitting, textile design, silk, ceramic and pottery painting, jewellery-making, quilting; computer and business skills, plus reiki, yoga, tai chi, massage, etc.
Time Required:
We would like to hear from anyone who could offer a few hours of their time per month to this project. Activities can take place on week days and weekends. Times will be alternated to enable everyone to participate.
Location:
It is envisaged that on some occasions the women will visit Shire of Nillumbik and on others occasions we will visit them in Footscray. A community bus will be available to transport volunteers to the various venues.

EPIC- Education Program for Infants & Children Inc
Description:
EPIC (Education Program for Infants & Children Inc.) is one of the major providers of specialised teaching and therapy programs for young children with a range of developmental disabilities, particularly Down syndrome & autism.

½ day or 1 day per week regularly or cover for holidays
Each year we hold a relaxed Christmas lunch for the local community. This year, we need help in the following areas: kitchen hands, table waiting, preparation and hosting. Skills needed include food handling and interpersonal skills.
