What is this appeal for?
The Northern Migrant Resource Centre's mission is to offer services and programs designed to assist migrants, refugees and asylum seekers to fully participate, and successfully settle in, Australia. The NMRC was initially established in 1984 to provide settlement services in Melbourne's northern metropolitan region, however, it has now expanded into four major task areas to help achieve its mission:

Four Major Task Areas
  • Immigration advice, Settlement orientation, information and family strengthening services for newly arrived migrants and refugees
  • Intensive Employment assistance programs
  • Aged and Disability Services for members of ethnic communities preferring to access ethno-specific and multicultural services
  • Cross-cultural resources and consultancy and new community enterprises
For further information about our current programs, visit www.mrcne.org.au

How will the funds be used?
The NMRC is seeking funds to expand on the services it can provide, providing innovative programs responding to the needs of migrant and refugee young people, the elderly and their families, which is not currently being funded by government.

  • Leadership program for "Ethnic Youth Council" members, young people of diverse backgrounds advocating for their peers
