Rape Crisis Online Service Appeal

What is this appeal for?

NSW Rape Crisis Centre has established a one to one, online, real time, crisis service for people who have been sexually assaulted. Rape Crisis Online is an alternative and less personal way of accessing information, discussing fears and identifying options. The service will particularly target young people who feel very comfortable in an online environment.

How will the fund be used?

As Rape Crisis Online is technology based, there is a constant need to maintain and update project technology. This will include regular review and enhancement of firewalls and other security devices to ensure that the confidentiality of the service is preserved. Donations will be used to achieve this outcome.

Why your donation is important

NSW Rape Crisis Centre assists over 3,000 people annually. Research shows the up to 45,000 people experience sexual or indecent assault each year in NSW. Access to information, support and referral to face to face counselling can greatly help the recovery process. Most callers say that speaking the unspeakable for the first time is the hardest thing to do. Rape Crisis Online offers an alternative way to make that first step.
