Pathways believes:
Pathways believes a fundamental process acknowledging and assisting the healthy transition of youth to adult is missing in modern Australian society and is significantly contributing to the well-recognised problems amongst youth.
Pathways aims to bring out the potential in our youth and have them full of hope and inspiration as they look to the future. By improving parent-child relationships and increasing self esteem, Pathways believe we will have better and healthier parents, husbands, wives and leaders in the future.
Pathways is now at a critical point in its growth. Having built a solid foundation, Pathways is now in a strong position to expand throughout schools and communities across the nation. Pathways requires further funding to allow the Foundation to continue to grow & meet the ever increasing demand for programs.
How will the funds be used:
Pathways goals for both the immediate & long term is to continue to grow and to fulfil the vision for every boy and girl in Australia to have access to a safe, supported Rite of Passage to support their transition to being a young adult.
To achieve this goal we seek funding for the following key areas.
Leadership Training
Pathways programs are experiencing increasing demand. To answer this need and to expand the service into regionally and economically disadvantaged areas, the Foundation must continually train and recruit highly skilled men and women to facilitate camps. Availability of qualified Leaders is currently one of the main bottlenecks for expansion. Pathways has developed a Leadership program to address this issue to target selected men and women within the community to become Pathways Leaders and to train them to deliver programs.
The Mother and Daughter Program
Based on similar aims and philosophies of the boys program, Mothers and daughters will strengthen their relationship, daughters will be acknowledged and honoured, instilled with confidence and self worth. The pilot program launched in November 2006 and 2007 plans to see two Mother-Daughter programs scheduled later in the year.
Scholarship fund:
The Pathways Scholarship Fund offers financial assistance for those families who could otherwise not afford to attend the program. It is the policy of Pathways that no one misses out on programs due to financial constraints. Pathways has scholarships, subsidies, and payment plans available and gives financial support to nearly 20% of participating families.
Expansion into Disadvantaged Areas:
Pathways aims to expand into rural and geographically isolated areas where boys and girls can be at greater risk. The cost of supporting new programs in regional areas is $8,000 per program. Pathways wants to support 2 new regions annually for 3 years.
