Allowah Presbyterian Children's Hospital Appeal Allowah Presbyterian Children's Hospital Appeal
By: Presbyterian Social Services

What is this appeal for?
Allowah cares for children and young people up to the age of 16 with physical and intellectual disabilities such as genetic or chromosomal disorders, birth trauma, cerebral palsy, head injuries, and diseases acquired after birth. Currently Allowah is supporting over 80 families mainly from New South Wales. Allowah is vital in supporting the children as well as their families, and is credited with keeping families together that otherwise would fracture because of the incredible strain placed on them.

Why are you collecting funds?

1. The existing building was originally built in 1976 for children under the age of two, and licensed for 45 beds/cots. With improved medical, nursing, and therapeutic intervention children with disabilities now have much improved life expectancies and quality of life, resulting in the present building being inadequate. The children need areas for living, dining, leisure, bathing, and sleeping.

2. Some families are not covered by a health fund but still need this type of care. We can provide limited services at no cost if funds available.

How will the funds be used?
  1. Plans have already been drawn up to extend the hospital by more than double its present size. This is estimated to cost $4,500,000.

  2. Subsidise families not covered by a health fund.
Allowah Presbyterian Children's Hospital is a ministry of Presbyterian Social Services. It is located at 8 Perry St. DUNDAS NSW 2117.

Key areas of expenditure for funds donated:
  • Building expansion.
  • Extra staffing.
Is this appeal tax deductible? Yes
