What is this appeal for?

Siblings of children with special needs can grow up in a situation of stress without the maturity to deal with their experiences. They can feel quite isolated and confused by their different feelings and, as a result, become 'at risk' for a range of mental and physical health problems. They are also more likely to contribute to the quality of life of the child with special needs.

Siblings Australia is the only organisation in Australia with a focus on siblings and we have developed a national and international reputation for our work. Support for siblings enables them to become less isolated and develop greater resilience.

How will the funds be used?
Funds will be used to support our various programs. Siblings Australia works in three main ways. We provide direct services to siblings - via group programs and internet forums, we assist parents to support their children through workshops and web-based and written materials; and we support agencies to strengthen families.
