Q&A Leadership Program Q&A Leadership Program
By: Twenty 10 Gay and Lesbian Youth Services

What is this appeal for?
This appeal supports a new leadership program offered by Twenet10. Q&A targets established and emerging leaders who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT), same sex attracted, gender diverse or queer, and who are 18-28 years of age.

The objectives of Q&A are to:

  • Create a learning and experiential environment to undertake training in adaptive leadership,
  • Raise broader community awareness of the adaptive strengths of the GLBT and queer communities,
  • Capacity build the sectors involving GLBT and queer communities, and
  • Build the skills and capacities of emerging young leaders within the GLBT and queer communities.

Over an eight month period, 15 to 20 participants will develop their leadership capacities through a structured program involving community engagement, experiential learning personal reflection, mentoring and a project within the GLBT and queer communities. Q&A is open to individuals with a commitment to community leadership and social change. It is about making a difference, and facing the complex challenges of our communities and our society.

  • How will the funds be used?
The full cost of Q&A is approximately $5000 per participant, funded by individual benefactors and Twenty10. By providing funding for the program you can contribute to the longer term capacity building of the GLBT community and to the development of the next generation of community leaders. It is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your commitment to the GLBT and queer communities.

For $5000 you and/or your friends can establish a scholarship to sponsor the full costs of a place on the program. This can be a named scholarship in recognition of an individual or group or it can be anonymous.

For $200, $500 or $1000 you can make a valuable contribution to the program by helping to cover costs such as venue hire, facilitation and training fees, program readings and other materials.

Key areas of expenditure for funds donated:
    • Subsidising the personal costs for program participants who cannot afford program fees but are already contributing so much to our community.
    • Venue hire, transport and accommodation for participants across NSW.
    • Facilitator and other training fees.
Is this appeal tax deductible? Yes
