What is this appeal for?

In 2004, 12,992 young people were under juvenile justice supervision in Australia. 83% were males.

14% of Australian aged 4 to 17 have mental health problems

48,100 early school leavers were not in full-time study or full-time work in 2005

The estimated cost to Australia of one year's early school leavers is $3 billion

In 2006, juvenile detention for one young person cost %204.50 per day. Evolve at Typo Station's two-year early intervention program costs an average of $2.80 per day for one young person.

Evolve at Typo Station provides a supportive environment for disadvantaged young people to evolve into strong, caring and purposeful individuals. As an independent non-profit organisation which relies on assistance from individuals, trusts, foundations and businesses, donations to Evolve are greatly needed and appreciated.

How will the funds be used?
Donations to Evolve at Typo Station will be used to fund our early intervention programs for disadvantaged young people.

At "Typo Station", a remote rural property in the foothills of the Alpine National Park in north-east Victoria, we build skills, resources, and support networks for long-term growth and life achievement through:

A two year life-skills and alternate education program for 14-17 year old young men experiencing difficulties at home and/or school;
Applied leadership programs for students from Year 9 and above experiencing disadvantage;
Tailored partnership programs with alternative education settings and agencies across Victoria.

Key areas of expenditure for funds donated:

Early intervention programs for young people who are disengaging and disconnecting from education, employment, family and community.
