The aim of Uniting Aged Care-Strathdon Community
To work together to ensure Uniting Aged Care Victoria & Tasmania is a leader in the provision of creative options for the older person. In doing so we seek to value the individual and build community. In Uniting Church workplaces we are committed to policies and practices that reflect and require respect for fellow workers and those we serve.
The intent of Uniting Aged Care-Strathdon Community
Uniting Aged Care Strathdon Community is a not-for-profit organisation in Forest Hill which provides the highest quality of care to the elderly and people with disabilities within the community.
Strathdon provides both residential and non-residential care in the forms of Nursing Home (60 beds), Hostel (84 beds), Dementia Specific Hostel (24 beds), Independent Living Unit accommodation(71 units) and a Day Therapy Centre. Strathdon Community Services Program includes the Day Therapy Centre, Mingara Day Activity Centre for people with dementia and Community Aged Care Packages (132 packages) which provides support services at home to 132 clients.
During 2007-2008 the on site Day Therapy Centre and Mingara Day Activity Centre together provided maintenence and rehabilitation services to 682 clients who received 28,855 hours of service.
Recent accomplishments of Uniting Aged Care-Strathdon Community
Uniting Aged Care Strathdon Community celebrated 40 years of care in 2008. The facility was developed from a donation of land by Mrs Mary Matheson, and was officially opened as an elderly people's settlement in 1968. It is recognised as a leading provider of aged care services.
Strathdon Community is fully accredited by The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency. This enables Strathdon to continue to receive government funding and provide a benchmark for quality of care for all residents.
