What is this appeal for?
A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Caribbean island on the afternoon of Wednesday 12th January, flattening buildings and destroying homes. Thousands of people are missing and it is feared the death toll may top 100,000.
Local Caritas partners mobilised quickly in response to the appeal for urgent assistance, providing emergency relief to the thousands of people affected by the earthquake. Caritas is providing food, shelter and comfort through churches and parish networks.
