Crown land in New South Wales

9.3 Aboriginal Cultural Awareness and Engagement

Thursday 18 February - 1:00pm-3:00pm

For tens of thousands of years, Aboriginal people have inhabited and managed the land. Crown land has significant spiritual, social, cultural and economic importance to the Aboriginal people of NSW. Understanding the importance of Aboriginal history and culture on Crown Land is crucial for the effective management of these sites. This webinar is designed for Crown Land managers to strengthen understanding and gain a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal culture. This webinar will provide guidance around opening a respectful dialogue, inviting participation and establishing ??effective partnerships with Aboriginal people from your community who may wish to contribute or become involved in the Crown reserve. This webinar will be presented by Karen Milward, Cultural Awareness Trainer and proud Yorta Yorta Woman, and Jon Staley, Community Trainer, Institute of Community Directors Australia.
