About the Role

Kids’ Own Publishing is seeking to appoint up to two new Board Directors. You will join a passionate and engaged board in driving forward our work guided by a strategic plan. You will support achievement of our vision and contribute additional skills and experience.

The Board meets six times a year. There are occasional additional meetings and planning sessions as well as functions (including virtual) that you would be expected to attend.

About Kids’ Own Publishing

Kids’ Own Publishing is a not-for-profit arts organisation – we publish books by kids for kids. Kids’ Own Artists co-create books with children and their communities that reflect their culture, identity and imagination.

We partner with communities to co-design community-publishing workshops, facilitated by artists. Children and artists collaboratively work together to develop content for the books, that are then published and launched with fanfare.

We publish books by kids because self-representation, creative expression and visibility are powerful. When children co-create and publish books that reflect their own worlds (real and imaginary), they contribute to the creation of culture, and see themselves reflected in it. Through a fun, engaging process of making books with artists, children are encouraged to take creative risks, build confidence and make connections.
