Any further information about this vacancy:

Mitcham Community House Inc is a not-for-profit organisation governed by a voluntary Committee of elected community members. We offer a wide range of recreational and educational classes and social activities, childcare, playgroups, and support programs.
Our Committee of Management (the Committee) meets every two months and also attends the Annual General Meeting.

The Committee would like to welcome new members, preferable local residents, with any of the following skills: experience managing a registered childcare centre; working in business, law and/or local government; experience in the not-for-profit sector.
Mitcham Community House currently has the following vacancies available for volunteer Committee members:

  • General Committee member (attends committee meetings and supports priorities of the organisation):  Most needed is the ability to corporately govern a community based organisation with over 1000 weekly users. Current or recent workplace experience in policy writing, strategic, financial and business planning, legal matters or human resources would benefit us immeasurably. We oversee a budget of $500K and computerised accounts are reported monthly.
Meetings are bi-monthly, of two hours duration, currently 5 pm on Wednesdays, but timing is negotiable. We offer a friendly environment and a sense of humour is a pre-requisite.

  • Committee Member with experience working in the childcare sector to support our registered childcare / occasional care centre (attends committee meetings and meets with house manager and childcare coordinator to support the priorities of the registered occasional care centre)
