After a strong period of growth in 2023, Think Forward is seeking a new Board Director to support ongoing development. This person will join two existing Board Directors who are also the founders of the organisation. They will ensure good governance practices and engage in high level decision making processes. They value participation as crucial to eective policy change and are eager to see more young people engaged in economic discourse. More broadly, they believe that tax and economic reform is necessary to build an Australia that works for everyone. This person will come with capability and/or networks to support the development and sustainability of Think Forward.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with the leadership team to enable the organisation to obtain resources, funds and personnel to implement the organization’s strategic objectives;

  • Understand the core purpose of the Think Forward to be able to make strategic and well-informed decisions as a Director;

  • Represent Think Forward, effectively and in alignment with the organisation’s values.

  • Drive the strategic direction of the organisation and monitor progress (implemented and reported by the leadership team);

  • Implement, maintain and (as necessary) refine a system of good governance that is appropriate for the organisation;

  • Ensuring there is succession planning for both the Board and leadership team members;

  • Provide financial oversight to ensure the resources of the organisation are eciently managed and protected.

  • Ensure risks are managed effciently and effectively;

  • Provide clear, strong and impartial advice as a Director. The Director will ensure they over positive and constructive contributions that will help to develop well-informed decisions taken by the Board;

  • Contribute to the further development of the Board and attend and actively participate in Board meetings;

  • Attend other Board-approved activities across the year, examples of which include: Planning and Strategy events / workshops and webinars, as well as Board-nominated community and media events;

  • Declare any situation that may lead to a real, possible, or perceived conflict of interest and abide by Think Forward policies.

Time Commitment: Board meetings are held quarterly for two hours. Additional infrequent, ad-hoc meetings with the leadership team should also be expected as well as any additional time required to undertake activities related to the development of the organisation. We do not expect the board member’s time commitment to exceed more than 5 hours a month.

 

Term: Board terms align to our 3 year strategic planning period, at which time board members may seek to be reappointed. This board member will join in the second year of our current strategic planning period 2023-2025.
