WWILD Sexual Violence Prevention Association Inc. is a unique organisation, specifically working with people with intellectual disability who have experienced sexual violence, or other violent crime or exploitation.
Our main areas of work are our sexual assault service, our victims of crime service, and our project work.
Our services provide specialist trauma counselling across Wooloowin, Beenleigh, Caboolture, and Inala, and victims of crime case management support across Greater Brisbane, helping people to recover from crime and improve safety. We also offer groups, and state-wide information, advice and referral for victims of crime with intellectual disability and their supporters.
Our current projects include a training project commissioned by the ACT Government, our Brisbane South Primary Health Network Trauma Recovery Service project, and a counselling book project. These are aligned with our goal of building capacity in the community to respond to our target group and share our specialised knowledge and experience, working alongside people with lived experience to do this.
We are seeking up to 3 new board members, primarily needing a new Treasurer but seeking General Members also. We are seeking members with skills and knowledge (listed below) to contribute to help steer our organisation as we manage the growth and change we have experienced in recent years as a growing organisation.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, LGBTQI+ and people from other diverse backgrounds who are wishing to bring their knowledge and perspective to strengthen our response to diverse cohorts of people with intellectual disability, are strongly encouraged to apply.
