The West Australian Foundation for Deaf Children is seeking to recruit Board Directors to serve on its Board of Management.
Role - Board Director (Non-Executive)
Length of term - Three years (renewable)
Location - Perth
(Successful WA regional-based Directors can participate in
meetings online)
Board meetings - Approximately seven times per annum
Third Tuesday of the month from 4pm – 6pm
Sub Committees - Participate in sub committees and ad hoc committees

Our Board and you
We have supported Deaf children and their families since 1896 in Western Australia. Our diverse Board consists of eight people with a wide range of qualifications and experience.
The Board is responsible for the overall governance, management and strategic direction of the organization and for delivering an accountable performance in accordance with the objects of the Association under its constitution.
All Board members must be responsible persons who meet ACNC requirements and who can work within the rules of the WA Foundation for Deaf Children’s constitution.
We are seeking representation from suitably qualified persons with expertise in at least two of the following areas:
- Lived experience in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community (including parents/carers)
- Professional in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing sector.
- Fundraising for a charity.
- Marketing and communication.
Selection criteria for Board Member
As a skills-based Board, Directors are required to have specialty skills, experience and/or knowledge in one or more of the following areas;
- Strategy: developing, implementing and reviewing organization land business strategies.
- Governance: overseeing and directing the organisation’s operations, procedures and compliance.
- Human Resources: People resource management, organisational culture, workplace health and safety.
- Financial Literacy: financial reporting and accounting practices.
- Risk: identification and management of risk, mitigation principles and control measures.
- Legal: Understand and interpreting laws, regulations and compliance.
- Marketing and Communication: Media, marketing, corporate branding and stakeholder engagement.
- Fundraising: Donor solicitation, hosting or attending events, storytelling and stewardship.
