BOARD MEMBERS - NON-EXECUTIVE (VOLUNTARY)
The Association for Services to Torture and Trauma Survivors Incorporated (ASeTTS) is seeking passionate and experienced individuals to join our Board.
If you are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of survivors of torture and trauma, we invite you to express your interest in joining our dedicated team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Board members are required to:
- Attend a minimum of six (6) Board meetings a year (in person or online)
- Participate in a Board Committee or working group (at least 4 meetings per year)
- Contribute to strategy workshops
- Attend the Annual General Meeting
- Maintain membership with the association
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ASeTTS is particularly interested in candidates with prior experience serving on not-for profits Boards and/or substantial expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Not-for profit governance
- Organisational change management
- Financial management and accounting
- Information technology and cybersecurity.
Applicants with lived experience will be highly regarded. In alignment with ASeTTS’ vision and purpose, lived experience is broadly includes:
- Direct or intergenerational experience as a refugee or survivor of torture and trauma and/or
- Long-standing involvement with refugees and survivors of torture and trauma.

ABOUT ASeTTS
ASeTTS is a leading for-purpose organisation providing mental health services, social supports, and community and cultural transition programs to people from refugee-like backgrounds who have survived torture and other forms of trauma.
Since 1992, we have supported people of all ages through individual, family, group, and community services. These programs are tailored to meet the diverse needs of cultural and linguistically diverse communities, acknowledging each person’s unique experiences and trauma histories.
As an accredited mental health provider and a member of national and global torture recovery networks, ASeTTS is committed to restoring hope and dignity. We partner with refugee survivors of torture and trauma to support individuals, families, and communities to rebuild their lives, to thrive, and enrich Australia.
HOW TO APPLY

Your EOI should include:
- A current resume
- A cover letter (no more than 2 pages) outlining your interest in becoming an ASeTTS’ Board Member and the skills and experience you would bring to the role.

Important information: ASeTTS’ constitution requires Board Directors to be appointed by its members. Successful candidates will formally assume their roles as Board Members upon election at the next Annual General Meeting.
