Volunteer Cemetery Trust Member – Sunbury Cemetery Trust

Are you passionate about your local community and interested in helping preserve local heritage while contributing to public service? The Sunbury Cemetery Trust is currently seeking volunteer trust members to join our dedicated board.

Key Duties:

As a Trust member, you will:

  • Attend regular trust meetings (typically bi-monthly)

  • Participate in decision-making about the strategic direction and governance of the cemetery

  • Provide oversight to ensure services meet community needs

  • Contribute your skills and experience to support ethical and effective governance

  • Act in accordance with the Victorian public sector values of integrity, accountability, and impartiality

Skills and Experience:

We welcome applications from a broad range of backgrounds. In this round, we are especially seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Legal or regulatory affairs

  • Horticulture, environmental planning, or landscape design

  • Community representation from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

You do not need prior board or committee experience – governance training is provided free of charge. What matters most is your commitment, reliability, and willingness to contribute positively to the community.

About Us:

The Sunbury Cemetery Trust is responsible for the oversight of the Sunbury Public Cemetery. Appointed by the Governor in Council, trust members are volunteers who ensure that our cemetery continues to be well-managed, accessible, and respectful to the needs of all individuals and families.

We work in partnership with Remembrance Parks Central Victoria (RPCV), which manages daily operations on our behalf, allowing the Trust to focus on governance and strategy.
