The North Belconnen Community Association Inc (NBCA) is a registered Charity that provides quality early childhood education and care across two centres, located in Flynn (140 places) and Charnwood (80 places). 

The organisation has 90 staff and exists “For Children, together” to deliver lifelong learning with lasting impact for our children and in our community. 2025 marks the beginning of a new strategic plan and the transition in structure from incorporated association to company limited by guarantee.  

NBCA is currently governed by a management committee of seven and seeks up to 5 new non-executive directors to join our committee as it becomes a Board to further strengthen our governance as it rebrands and looks to grow.  

This role is currently voluntary though remuneration is expected to be introduced in 2026.  

As part of this recruitment, NBCA will be launching two sub committees:  

  • Finance & Audit Committee (2x members needed) 
  • Quality & Risk Committee (1x Chair, 1x member needed) 

NBCA is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals looking to join our future Board of Directors.  

What We’re Looking For:  

You’ll be a great candidate for one of the roles available if you:  

Have 5 years professional experience in one of the following areas:  

  • Corporate finance / audit 
  • Legal practice  
  • Human resources 
  • At a Regulator or working in a highly regulated environment  
  • Policy 
  • Risk Management 

We are seeking individuals who share our passion and meet the following criteria:  

  • Commitment to the values, purpose, and priorities of NBCA 
  • Have experience or understanding of the not-for-profit community services sector 
  • Can attend Committee/Board meetings and Sub Committee Meetings (6 each) through a calendar year. (Most are held virtually with 1-2 in-person).  
  • Demonstrate previous experience as a Board member. (AICD or similar governance qualifications would be highly regarded)  
  • Lived experience working at an education provider could be advantageous  

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement: 

  •          Working with Vulnerable People Card
  •          National Police Check clearance.
  •          Clear solvency check.
