Nura Haven is a groundbreaking Aboriginal-led holistic retreat and community healing centre, proudly established as an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO) in South East Queensland, Australia.

We are establishing as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) and will be seeking charity registration with the ACNC and DGR status. We are currently in our foundational phase, building the bedrock for significant future impact.

The Opportunity:Nura Haven is seeking highly skilled, passionate, and committed individuals to join our inaugural Board of Directors. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and governance of a groundbreaking organisation that will make a profound and lasting impact on the well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and indeed, for everyone we serve.

The Board of Directors provides crucial strategic oversight, ensures robust fiduciary responsibility and compliance, leads fundraising efforts, sets organisational policies, and oversees the Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities of the Board:

* Provide strategic leadership and guidance to ensure Nura Haven achieves its mission and vision.

* Ensure sound financial management, accountability, and sustainability of the organisation.

* Oversee compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations, particularly those pertaining to not-for-profit and charity law.

* Actively participate in and support fundraising initiatives to secure the necessary resources for Nura Haven's development and operations.

* Develop and approve key organisational policies and frameworks.

* Appoint, support, and oversee the performance of the Chief Executive Officer.

* Act as ambassadors for Nura Haven, promoting its values and objectives.Who We Are Looking For – Essential Criteria:To ensure authentic cultural governance and diverse expertise, our Board recruitment is guided by a comprehensive skills matrix and cultural representation requirements:

* Cultural Representation: A minimum of [Confirm 50% or 75%] of the Directors must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

* Cultural Authority & Community Connection: We require at least two (2) Elders or highly respected Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community members who can provide deep cultural guidance, wisdom, and community connection.

* Demonstrated Expertise in at least one of the following areas (as per skills matrix):

* Financial Management & Accounting: At least one (1) qualified accountant or finance professional with experience in not-for-profit financial oversight.

* Legal & Governance: Expertise in corporate governance, NFP/charity law, and compliance, with at least one (1) legal professional preferred.

* Health & Social Services: Extensive experience in clinical practice, community health, social services, NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme), and/or aged care, with at least two (2) professionals in these fields.

* Business & Social Enterprise Management: Proven track record in business development, strategic planning, and operational management, particularly within a social enterprise context.

* Marketing & Communications: Expertise in brand building, stakeholder engagement, public relations, and digital communications.

* Human Resources: Experience in HR strategy, talent management, organisational development, and workplace relations.
