Board Member 

inTouch Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence (inTouch) seeks expressions of interest (EOI) from values driven, suitably skilled and committed people to join its Board. 

  • Play a vital role in an important community organisation supporting migrant and refugee women experiencing family violence. 
  • Drive meaningful change for migrant and refugee women by contributing your skills, knowledge and advocacy. 

About inTouch 

inTouch is a leading, culturally responsive service supporting migrant and refugee women across Victoria. With over 40 years of experience and more than 30,000 women and children assisted, inTouch provides holistic support including case management, legal services, early intervention, recovery programs, and perpetrator interventions. The organisation is recognised for its specialist expertise, with a workforce comprised primarily of individuals from migrant and refugee backgrounds, representing over 20 countries. inTouch also delivers training, advocacy and policy leadership to strengthen the broader family violence sector.

Responsibilities 

  • Champion the rights and voices of migrant and refugee women experiencing family violence. 
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to support the achievement of inTouch's purpose and objectives. 
  • Provide insight and expertise to inform our understanding of service responses to family violence in diverse communities. 
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategies and policies. 
  • Leverage government and community networks to advocate for policies and initiatives that benefit individuals, families and communities from multicultural communities. 
  • Provide financial oversight and ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. 
  • Collaborate with fellow board members, staff, and stakeholders to foster a culture of inclusivity, safety and accountability within the organisation. 

Candidate requirements 

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in at least one of the specified areas. 
  • Previous experience as a Board Director, preferably within the Not-for-Profit sector. 
  • Strong commitment to the values and purpose of inTouch. 

Board term 

Directors are appointed for terms of up to three years and may be re-appointed. After serving three consecutive terms (9 years), a 12-month break is required before being eligible for re-appointment. 

Remuneration 

Board positions are voluntary. Directors may be reimbursed for reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred while carrying out Board duties, subject to prior approval.

Time Commitment 

  • 8 meetings per year, usually in the afternoons and evenings 
  • Participation in Board subcommittees or strategic initiatives, optional
