ANZICS invites nomination from a suitably qualified and experienced individual for the role of Independent (Non-Executive) Board Director with a background in Human Resource Management. 

About ANZICS

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society, ANZICS, is a company registered under the Corporations Act 2001 (Australia) and Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission Act 2012. Its objectives are to connect its membership, and advocate on issues related to the specialty of intensive care in the pursuit of ensuring excellence in the provision of care to critically ill patients in Australia and New Zealand.

ANZICS is a member-based society and works closely with key decision-makers in the healthcare sector including government/non-government agencies, regulators and healthcare providers.  Through our committees and special interest groups, we support diverse service portfolios including clinical quality registries, clinical research and facilitation of health initiatives in resource limited locations.  ANZICS undertakes advocacy and provides educational offerings for intensive care clinicians as well as initiatives to support their welfare. 

About the Independent Board Director Position:

In accordance with the ANZICS Constitution, the ANZICS Board of Directors can appoint two non-Executive Directors with expertise, skills and experience to bring specific skills or expertise to the Board in the best interests of the Society.

An ANZICS Board Member is an unpaid voluntary position. Board members are required to attend three, two-day, in-person/virtual meetings. Virtual out-of-session Board meetings will be held from time to time.  Travel and accommodation are organised by the Society’s Executive Assistant and Events Lead.  Any other expense reimbursements for attending an in-person meeting are in accordance with the ANZICS financial policies and procedures. 

Board Directors are expected to work collaboratively with other board directors and the General Manager to advance the interests of ANZICS. Individuals are invited to express their interest in for appointment to the board for a 2-year term.

ANZICS is seeking expression of interest in for the role of a skills-based Board member with a background in Human Resource Management or Employment/Industrial Relations Law.  The post-holder will:

  • Provide strategic advice to the Board on matters relating to HR and governance that supports the Society’s overall strategy and objectives. 
  • Advise the Board around compliance with legal requirements of employment and employment contracts.
  • Advise the Board around compliance with HR policies and legal standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to Board, General Manager and Committee Members on HR related matters.
  • Participate in the formulation of company strategy and oversight with the other Board Members.
