Position Overview
As a Board Member of Dundaloo Foundation Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities, you will provide strategic oversight, governance, and support to ensure the organisation remains effective, ethical, and financially sustainable. Board Members serve as ambassadors of the charity’s mission and values, contributing their skills, experience, and networks to help advance the organisation’s impact.
Key Responsibilities
Governance and Strategy
- Participate in setting and reviewing the organisation’s strategic direction and goals.
- Ensure effective oversight of programs, services, and organisational performance.
- Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Financial Stewardship
- Review and approve annual budgets and financial statements.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls and risk management systems are in place.
- Support fundraising efforts and contribute to financial sustainability.
Advocacy and Representation
- Promote the charity’s mission and advocate for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities.
- Represent the organisation at events, in the community, and with stakeholders.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with fellow Board Members and the executive team.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to senior leadership where appropriate.
- Participate actively in Board meetings and subcommittees.
Qualifications and Experience
- Passionate about disability rights, inclusion, and social justice.
- Previous governance experience or familiarity with board responsibilities (preferred but not essential).
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: disability services, law, finance, fundraising, healthcare, lived experience of disability, community engagement, advocacy, or nonprofit management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to the mission of the organisation.
Time Commitment
- Attend monthly Board meetings (typically [2–3] hours).
- Term length: 3 Years
