This info pack is designed to help you learn about the roles of Treasurer, Secretary and General Board Member — and show how we’ll support you every step of the way. ** All governance, meetings, and Board communications are managed online. No need for physical paperwork or on-site presence. You can work from wherever you are, with support available. Role: Treasurer
Purpose: To oversee and guide the financial management of the organisation, ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all finances, banking, payments, and receipts.
- Work with Xero accounting software
- Prepare budgets, financial statements, and reports for Board meetings.
- Ensure all regulatory and legal financial obligations are met (e.g., BAS, annual statements).
- Liaise with auditors, bookkeepers, and relevant financial authorities.
- Support fundraising and grant activities with financial oversight.
Key Skills/Experience
- Bookkeeping or financial management experience (desirable but not essential).
- Proficiency with technology and willingness to use cloud-based systems.
- Strong attention to detail, ethics, and integrity.
Board Support Provided
- Access to Xero accounting software, with comprehensive
- All processes are remote and flexible, coordinated via Waarble (our secure online governance platform).
- Regular online collaboration with other Board members.
- Detailed handover and documentation for all finance-related tasks.
Commitment
- Board meetings are held every month on Wednesday or Thursday evenings.
- Board meetings go for 2-hours and require 1-2 hours of pre-work.
In addition to Board Meetings, the role requires approximately four (4) hours a week in the form of:
- responding regularly to emails including out-of-session approvals;
- actioning any tasks identified in meetings;·
- attending AGM and strategy sessions;
- working with the other committee members to ensure effective governance;
- being involved in the charity and the growth of the charity
Role: Secretary
Purpose: To ensure the organisation operates in compliance with relevant laws and meets its governance obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule, prepare agendas for, and document minutes of Board meetings (all held online via Waarble).
- Manage legal and regulatory filings (e.g., ACNC, ASIC if applicable).
- Maintain registers of Board members, meeting papers, and organisational policies.
- Assist with member communications and annual reporting requirements.
- Ensure governance processes are clear, current, and compliant.
Key Skills/Experience
- Experience in administration or secretarial roles (community or corporate).
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Proactive with managing documents and deadlines (remote processes).
Board Support Provided
- All documentation, communications, and processes are managed and accessible via Waarble.
- Training provided for Waarble and governance requirements.
- Ongoing support from current Board and administrative volunteers.

Role: General Board Member
Purpose: Support the vision, values and objectives of the charity and work closely with other committee members to support the overall direction, effectiveness and accountability of the charity.
Key Responsibilities
- Understanding the organisation and upholding its vision, mission and values.
- Governing and overseeing the organisation’s operational and financial performance.
- Providing advice, opinions and independent judgement in making informed decisions.
- Strategic and business planning.
- Overseeing risk management.
- Recruiting, overseeing and supporting paid staff and volunteers within the organisation.
- Ensuring adherence with legislation and regulatory requirements.
Key Skills/Experience
- We are particularly interested with people who have skills in:
- Marketing and Communications
- Fundraising, grant management and donor engagement
- Not for Profit experience
- These are desirable, but not essential, to this role.

- leading or working on a specific project / subcommittee;
- working with the other committee members to ensure effective governance;
- being involved in the charity and the growth of the charity
About You
- Genuine passion and interest in the not-for-profit sector and Bayswater Women’s Hub
- Able to act with reasonable care and diligence, and handle information with confidentiality.
- Able to work collaboratively.
- Ability to work with basic technology, cloud based services and online platforms.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral) and highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate, liaise and resolve problems.
- Based in WA is preferable (so the Board member can understand state legislation, regulations, NFP funders etc) and have local networks to utilise.
- No conviction of any offences or be disqualified from being a Director; and
- No material conflict of interest with Bayswater Women’s Workshop Time Commitment
- We are looking for people who can commit to a minimum 12 month term and who have adequate time to dedicate to this role. We warmly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and will provide training and ongoing support to help you succeed.
