About the organisation

Community Resources is a leading national social enterprise and registered charity focused on creating jobs that care for people and planet.  Our vision is to create thriving communities that value people, planet and the Traditional Owners of the land.

We run some of the largest social enterprises in the country: Resource Recovery Australia, Soft Landing and Green Yakka who all bring an innovative approach to transform our environment. We also deliver place-based community services in regional communities through our youth services organisations Homebase, The Great Lakes and Manning Youth Homelessness Service (GLAMYHS), and our support service Helping Hands, who help people live in their own homes for as long as possible.

Last year we employed 786 people, 67% of whom experienced barriers to employment, we kept over 20,000 tonnes of waste out of landfill; we grew and distributed nearly 36,000kgs of fair food; and we provided over 68,000 community service instances to those who need it most. We do this to make the world fairer and life better.

Be Part of our Transformational Journey as we become an Aboriginal-Led Organisation

Established on Worimi Country on the NSW Mid North Coast nearly 40 years ago as an Aboriginal organisation, Community Resources now operates nationally with a clear aim to make a stronger, fairer Australia.

We have been on a journey to reconnect with our roots and are formalising our status as an Aboriginal-led organisation. Guided by our Board, a transition plan, and our ‘Innovate’ Reconciliation Action Plan, we are strengthening our cultural foundations, amplifying Aboriginal voices in our leadership, and ensuring our work is guided by the values, knowledge and priorities of our communities.

Our Constitution reflects this commitment through a unique Co-Chair model, requiring one being Aboriginal and one being female. Community Resources is also committed to maintaining a minimum of 50% female representation on its Board.

Since transitioning to a skills-based Board in 2020, Community Resources has grown to include seven directors. We are committed to achieving a majority Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation on our board of management.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a values-driven organisation making a meaningful impact in communities across Australia.
