Any further information about this vacancy:

For more than 15 years, SHINE has been working with secondary school-aged girls in the Mid-West of WA who are at risk of exiting the education system.

SHINE students broaden their future opportunities, gain personal confidence and develop a positive work ethic. More importantly, SHINE participants receive the guidance of positive adult mentors in a physically, emotionally and culturally safe environment. Participants are provided with opportunities to be inspired, experience achievement and to gain a sense of belonging.

Our program has been designed to supplement and support the WA school curriculum by encouraging participants of the SHINE program to attend school classes regularly and demonstrate positive classroom behaviour to maximise learning and growth opportunities. We support, educate and empower Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal girls with the life skills to thrive.

We receive a mix of Federal, State and corporate funding, and the support of many Mid-West community organisations. Our board is comprised of professionals and community members based in Perth and Geraldton, and we have a GM and several employees based in Geraldton.

We are seeking to fill a Casual Vacancy (until the AGM in May 2026) for the position of Board Secretary.

We have 8 weekly board meetings online, AGM in May (online or in person) and an Annual Baord Strategy Day in November (in-person at our offices in Geradlton)

The ideal candidate will be;

  • Vision and values aligned with Shine
  • Be able to commit long-term to the role
  • Have administrative experience or experience taking minutes.
  • Be available for Wednesday evening meetings
  • Experience using our board portal, Cat Herder, would be advantageous.
