Shape the Future of Inclusive Employment – Join the Board of Ability Works Australia

Since 1963, Ability Works Australia Ltd (AWA) has championed employment as a pathway to dignity, purpose, and belonging for people living with disability or experiencing social disadvantage. We break down barriers by providing tailored training, meaningful employment opportunities, and caring support that empowers individuals to thrive.

Why We Exist

People with disability and those facing disadvantage encounter significant challenges in accessing employment. At AWA, we believe work is more than a job—it’s a foundation for independence, pride, and community inclusion.

The Role: Honorary Non-Executive Director

As a Non-Executive Director, you will help shape the strategic direction and governance of AWA. The Board meets six times per year and is responsible for:

  • Defining AWA’s purpose, values, and long-term strategy.
  • Establishing governance policies and frameworks.
  • Overseeing the performance of the business.
  • Ensuring ethical standards and integrity across all operations.

 The Opportunity

As part of our commitment to succession planning and renewal, we are seeking suitably qualified candidates for future Board roles. Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Experience with the NDIS and the disability sector.
  • Ability to act independently with the highest ethical standards.
  • Lived experience of disability or disadvantage, either personally or as a carer.
