Help govern a large, purpose-driven community organisation delivering real impact at scale.
Meals on Wheels Central Coast is a well-established, not-for-profit organisation supporting older people and people with disability to live independently, safely and with dignity in their own homes.
In the past year alone, the organisation delivered over 250,000 meals across the Central Coast, Australia’s third largest urban area, alongside wellbeing checks and social connection that reduce isolation and support community participation. Meals on Wheels Central Coast is also a registered NDIS provider, delivering services within a complex and highly regulated environment.
With sustained population growth and an ageing demographic across the Central Coast, demand for services that support people to remain living independently at home is expected to continue to increase. Strong, skilled governance is critical to ensuring the organisation remains sustainable, responsive and values led.
We are seeking to appoint multiple Non-Executive Directors to join our Board.
The opportunity
This is a substantive governance role within a large service-delivery organisation operating in a dynamic regulatory and funding landscape. Meals on Wheels Central Coast operates under One Direct Connect Limited, a not-for-profit organisation delivering essential community services across the Central Coast.
As a Director, you will work in partnership with the Chair, fellow Directors and the CEO to provide strategic oversight and stewardship of One Direct Connect Limited, while maintaining a clear separation between governance and management.
The Board works in partnership with a committed and values-driven CEO and leadership team to support workforce sustainability, organisational culture and service excellence while navigating significant aged care reform.
Key areas of Board focus include:
- Strategic direction, long-term sustainability and organisational performance
- Governance, risk management and regulatory compliance
- Workforce sustainability, culture and leadership capability
- Financial oversight and responsible growth
- Ensuring services remain aligned to community need and organisational purpose.
This is a volunteer, non-executive role. Directors are not remunerated and contribute their time, skills and experience in service of the organisation’s mission and community impact.
About you
You will bring senior-level experience, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to Board decision-making, with the confidence to contribute constructively to strategic discussions.
While all candidates will be assessed on merit, the Board is particularly interested in individuals who can help broaden its collective skills and experience. Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Senior leadership experience in people and culture, workforce strategy or industrial relations, or qualification and experience as a practising or former lawyer, with expertise in employment and/or commercial law
- Governance experience within aged care, community care, health, disability or human services
- Leadership in complex, workforce-intensive or volunteer-based organisations
- Large-scale operations, logistics, food services, or supply chain environments
- Digital capability, systems transformation, or cyber security
- Strong sector, government, or community networks relevant to aged care, disability or community services
You will also demonstrate:
- Strategic thinking and the ability to balance risk and opportunity.
- A commitment to good governance and ethical decision-making
- Alignment with the values and purpose of community-focused organisations
Direct experience in aged care, disability services or the NDIS is not required. Candidates from a wide range of professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Directors must be eligible to act as a company director under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). Appointments are subject to pre-commencement checks, which may include a National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening clearance.
Time commitment and location
- Board meetings are held bi-monthly.
- Meetings are based in Tuggerah, with flexibility to attend online when required.
- Board committees meet monthly via Microsoft Teams
- Directors should allow time for meeting preparation and occasional additional engagement.
Why join our Board?
- Contribute to the governance of one of the largest Meals on Wheels services operating in NSW.

How to apply
Interested candidates are invited to submit a current curriculum vitae and a brief cover letter outlining their interest in the role and the skills and experience they would bring as a Non-Executive Director.
