Kindred Clubhouse is a small mental‑health NFP with limited resources but strong purpose. We are small enough to matter and structured enough to be meaningful and seeking a Secretary to make a tangible difference.

About Us

Kindred Clubhouse is a member‑led psychosocial rehabilitation community supporting people living with mental health challenges to build connection, confidence, and purpose. Inspired by the Clubhouse International model, members and staff work side‑by‑side to create opportunities for social connection, education, and employment.

We are growing, and we are seeking a capable and committed Board Secretary to strengthen our governance and help guide the next stage of our organisation’s journey.

The Opportunity The Board Secretary plays a key role in supporting the governance and administrative functions of the Board. This volunteer role is ideal for someone who is organised, values-driven, and passionate about mental health, community recovery, and inclusive practice.

This is also a fantastic opportunity for someone building governance experience or seeking a meaningful board contribution with real impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Board agendas and take accurate minutes
  • Coordinate collection and distribution of board papers
  • Maintain governance documents and registers (ACNC, ASIC, policies)
  • Assist the Chair and Executive Director with governance processes
  • Support annual reporting, AGM preparation, and compliance timelines
  • Ensure strong documentation and good record‑keeping practices

What You Bring You don’t need to be a governance expert — we welcome expressions of interest from a wide range of backgrounds. We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organised, reliable, and confident with documentation
  • Values‑aligned and passionate about mental health recovery
  • Comfortable collaborating with a small, supportive board
  • Willing to learn governance processes (training provided if needed)

Experience in administration, governance, law, mental health, community services, or NFP operations is welcomed but not essential.

Commitment

  • Approximately 3–5 hours per month
  • Monthly board meetings (mix of in‑person and online)
  • Minimum 12‑month commitment preferred

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a welcoming, member‑led mental health community
  • Make a tangible difference as the organisation grows
  • Gain or extend governance experience in a supported environment
  • Work with a values‑driven and engaged board
