Board Members & Treasurer

We are seeking 3 to 4 Non Executive Directors to join the Board, including a Treasurer.

VALER is a small, focused organisation with a serious mandate. Directors will play a critical role in strengthening governance, guiding sustainable growth and supporting applied systems level harm reduction.Board Directors provide strategic oversight, governance leadership and accountability. Responsibilities include:

• Contributing to strategic direction and long term sustainability

• Oversight of financial performance and organisational risk

• Strengthening governance systems and compliance

• Supporting funding strategy and partnership growth

• Upholding organisational integrity and mission alignment

Treasurer

The Treasurer will manage the Finance and Risk function of the Board to ensure financial obligations, sustainability and governance requirements are met. If you are an experienced director seeking to contribute to practical, mission led work with real world impact, we would welcome your interest.

We're looking for people with passion & profile to help us grow.The Board meets quarterly. The expected time commitment is approximately 10 to 12 hours per quarter, inclusive of meeting attendance, preparation, circular resolutions, advocacy support where appropriate and staying informed on sector developments and governance obligations.Directors are expected to engage actively and come prepared, but the overall quarterly commitment is designed to remain within this timeframe.

About The Organisation

One in six women in Australia, 17 %, have experienced physical or sexual violence from someone unknown to them. One in four have experienced non-domestic genered violence.Those statistics shape how women move through workplaces, public spaces and digital environments every day. It reflects systemic gaps that require structural solutions.

VALER is a registered Not for Profit organisation focused on harm reduction outside the home. We work across workplaces, public spaces and digital environments, supporting organisations to reduce risk through research, safety audits, sector specific training and practical tools. Our work spans healthcare, education, the care economy, hospitality, retail and other public facing industries.Established four years ago, NFP registered with the ACNC in 2025 and endorsed for DGR status in 2026, VALER is entering its next phase of growth and governance maturity.

Prior Board, NFP and governance experience is preferred.

Treasurer

• We are specifically seeking a Treasurer with senior financial leadership experience. This role requires strong expertise in financial oversight, reporting and governance.

• Candidates should have CFO level or senior executive financial experience, ideally within the Not for Profit sector.

• Experience with charity compliance, DGR obligations, grant funding structures and financial controls in a growth stage organisation will be highly regarded.
