Targeting:

In accordance with section 14.3 of the Blackwood Recreation Centre Constitution, we hereby advise that the Blackwood Community Recreation Association Incorporated (BCRAI) 2025 Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, 30th April 2026.

Following the completion of terms for some of the Board, BCRAI is seeking to appoint up to five new Board members to complement and extend the skills and capacities of the current Board. Individuals with prior board experience will be highly regarded.

Progress toward securing a new lease has been successful, and we have committed to reviewing and strengthening our governance structure, which is currently underway.

As we move into this new and exciting phase, we are seeking additional members who can contribute their expertise and help drive the organisation forward.

Specific experience we are seeking for incoming board members includes:

• Fundraising and sponsorship
• Marketing and Communication
• Legal Expertise
• Governance relations
• Sport Management

Experience:

The Board is seeking individuals, preferably with a minimum of two years experience in a leadership role within their respective field of expertise, and prior board experience. Individuals who have a background in community sport and participation will be highly regarded.

About the Board and Role:

The Board is responsible for the governance of BCRAI, its strategic development and growth. The key roles of the GSA Board include:

• Appointing and managing the performance of the Centre Manager
• Formulating and implementing goals and strategic direction
• Approving the budget and all major items of capital expenditure
• Ensuring compliance with legal requirements
• Ensuring the financial viability of the organisation

Currently, this voluntary Board meets each month for approximately 120 minutes at the Centre, with various sub-committee meetings as required. We expect Board members to be available and actively participate in all Board related activities.

Nomination Requirements:

• Be a voting member of the association (steps of how to do so at the end of end of this document)
• Nominations must be in writing, to the Centre Manager.
• A maximum one-page introduction of: your interest in the role; experience you believe you would bring to the organisation; other Board positions held; current involvement in community sport (if applicable).
• A CV containing relevant work and industry history, qualifications and experience.
• Fill out and complete a “Nomination for Management Committee” form which can be picked up at reception or email steve@blackwoodrec.com.au

✅ How to Become a Voting Member

To become a voting member, you must become an Association Member (not just a Club Member).

Steps:

1. Pay the annual subscription fee set by the Management Committee ($10) and fill out the required paperwork (available at reception).
2. Be accepted (membership can be approved, rejected, or withdrawn at the Committee’s discretion).
3. Support the Association’s philosophy and aims and abide by the Constitution and By-Laws.
