The Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is seeking a Board Member to serve as Treasurer on our National Management Committee (the Board). We are looking for someone who is passionate about marine conservation and ready to play a critical role in the fight to protect our oceans.
AMCS is the voice for Australia’s ocean. We are Australia’s leading ocean conservation organisation and one of the founding members of Australia’s conservation movement. We are a community of ocean and coastal lovers across the nation, working to protect our precious marine wildlife and secure healthy seas. As an independent charity, our team of expert advocates and campaigners works daily to safeguard Australia’s ocean and coasts.
The organisation is undergoing an exciting period of unprecedented growth and remarkable impact, at a time when the world’s oceans are under threat like never before. As Treasurer, you will play an important role in supporting the organisation’s work by providing leadership in financial oversight and contributing to strong governance.
A principled person with experience working in the NGO environment, you will have the demonstrated ability to provide financial oversight to help the organisation achieve its goals. Experience as a CFO or in an equivalent role will be highly regarded, as will experience in the environmental sector and previous board experience.
As Treasurer, you will work closely and collaboratively with the Board, the CEO and executive staff of AMCS to support best practice financial oversight and governance across the organisation.
AMCS is strictly non-partisan. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. Candidates from anywhere in Australia are welcome to apply.
If you are ready for a new challenge and believe you have the commitment and experience to succeed in this important role, please submit your application to amcs@amcs.org.au.
Applications should include a CV and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience and interest in the position and should be submitted no later than 5 pm AEST Wednesday 25 March 2026.
For a confidential discussion about the role, please contact Jason Hincks, AMCS Board Member, on 0409 666 699. Queries can also be directed to amcs@amcs.org.au
