Motor Neurone Disease Association of Victoria (MND Victoria)

MND Victoria is seeking a committed Volunteer Board Director (State Council Member) to help guide strong, ethical governance and ensure our strategy stays focused on what matters most for people impacted by MND.

Our purpose is clear: to provide and promote the best possible care and support for people living with MND. Our values are CARE — Courageous, Attentive, Responsive, Ethical — and we bring these to life through the way we govern, decide and lead.

The opportunity

As a State Council Member, you will contribute to the strategic direction and oversight of MND Victoria, supporting our goals to:

  • provide accessible care and support that meets people’s needs.
  • sustain a passionate, skilled workforce.
  • strengthen MND Victoria’s impact and reputation as the expert organisation people turn to
  • invest in long-term sustainability.

Strategic focus

You will help steward and advance MND Victoria’s strategic pillars: Our Services, Our People, Our Impact, Our Sustainability.

This includes supporting objectives such as:

  • listening to the voice of people with lived experience in MND
  • investing in contemporary support services and Assistive Technology
  • influencing, advocating and adapting to sector and regulatory changes
  • exploring partnerships to improve service reach and quality
  • strengthening sustainability through innovation, fundraising potential, efficiency and continuous quality improvement

Who we’re looking for:

We welcome applications from people who bring:

  • Experience in one or more of: -Fundraising specialist, Neurologist/Medical professional with MND related experience.
  • Lived experience.
  • Board/governance capability and sound judgement (including financial, risk and compliance oversight).
  • A values-led, collaborative approach.

Desirable attributes:

  • Membership of AICD or AIG.
  • Director ID.
  • Previous Board experience.

Appointment details:

  • Role: Volunteer (unremunerated) Board Director / State Council Member
  • Location: Hybrid
  • Tenure: 3 years
  • Time commitment: 4-6 hours per month plus annual strategy workshop
