Volunteer Board Member – Tasmania

Are you passionate about the future of short-term rental accommodation (STRA) in Tasmania? Do you want to help shape evidence based, fair, sustainable and effective policy for STRA owners, operators, property managers and the broader tourism ecosystem?

The Short Term Accommodation Association Australia (STAAA) is seeking an additional motivated and engaged Volunteer Board Member based in Tasmania to represent local interests and contribute to our national advocacy efforts.

About STAAA

STAAA is the national peak body representing the short-term rental accommodation (STRA) industry across Australia. We advocate for evidence based regulations, support owners, operators and property managers and work collaboratively with government and industry stakeholders.

About the Role

As a Board Member representing Tasmania, you will:

  • Provide insight into local regulatory, political and community developments
  • Represent the interests of Tasmanian members
  • Contribute to national strategy, policy positions and advocacy initiatives
  • Engage with local stakeholders, including government and media where appropriate
  • Participate in regular board meetings (typically monthly, virtual)

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

  • Is based in Tasmania and understands the local short-term rental accommodation (STRA) landscape
  • Has strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Is passionate about evidence based, fair and sustainable outcomes for the industry
  • Has experience in governance, policy, tourism, property or advocacy (desirable but not essential)
  • Is willing to join STAAA as a member (or is already a current member)
  • Can commit time consistently in a voluntary capacity

Commitment

This is a voluntary (unpaid) position. Time commitment is approximately 10–12 hours per month, with flexibility depending on advocacy priorities.
