Victims of Crime NT (VoCNT) is seeking an experienced, values‑driven leader to join our Board in 2026, with the intention of stepping into the role of Chairperson at our Annual General Meeting in October 2026. This planned succession approach ensures a supported transition and strong continuity of governance.

VoCNT exists to support, uphold the rights, interests and needs of victims of crime across the Northern Territory. Our Vision is to reduce the adverse impacts of crime by building resilient individuals and communities that experience a strong sense of safety, security and connectedness.

About the Role
We are seeking a chairperson who can provide steady, ethical and future‑focused leadership to the Board. The successful candidate will join the Board well ahead of the 2026 AGM to ensure a supported induction, strong relationship building, and a smooth transition into the Chair role.
Key responsibilities once elected Chair include:
- Leading the Board in accordance with AICD governance principles and VoCNT’s strategic direction
- Ensuring culturally humble, trauma‑informed governance practices
- Supporting the CEO and strengthening organisational culture
- Championing the rights and needs of victims of crime across the NT
- Fostering strong relationships with government, community, and sector partners
- Ensuring the Board operates effectively, ethically and in line with its legal obligations
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome expressions of interest from people who:
- Bring experience in governance, leadership or community sector oversight
- Demonstrate cultural humility and a commitment to learning from First Nations people and communities
- Understand (or are willing to learn about) trauma‑informed and Sanctuary‑aligned practice
- Are aligned with VoCNT’s Vision, Mission and Values
- Can build trust, lead collaboratively and hold stewardship of a healthy organisational culture
- Are committed to ethical, transparent and accountable governance
- Have the time and capacity to contribute meaningfully to Board responsibilities
Experience in justice, health, social services, victim support, or community advocacy is valuable but not essential.
Commitment
- Join the Board in 2026 (volunteer role)
- Participate in Board meetings, subcommittees and strategic discussions
- Step into the Chairperson role at the AGM in October 2026
