The Board Treasurer is a volunteer responsible person within AMAPP's governance structure. As a grassroots, community-driven organisation, AMAPP relies on passionate volunteers committed to building ethical and accessible PAT from the ground up. The Treasurer plays a pivotal role in safeguarding AMAPP's financial health, guiding strategic growth, and ensuring long-termsustainability.The role requires approximately 5 hours per month, with peaks at budgeting, audit, and EOFY periods. All meetings are held online.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Oversight
  • Oversee budgets, financial statements, and book-keeping
  • Present financial reports at monthly board meetings
  • Implement financial controls and risk management processes
  • Advise on sustainable revenue models (grants, memberships, partnerships)

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure timely ACNC, ATO, and charity compliance
  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors
  • Oversee any bookkeepers or finance contractors
  • Build financial literacy across the board

RESPONSIBLE PERSON DUTIES (ACNC GOVERNANCE STANDARD 5) As a Responsible Person, the Treasurer must:

  • Act with care and diligence in all matters
  • Act honestly and in the charity's best interests at all times
  • Not misuse their position or confidential information
  • Disclose conflicts of interest promptly and appropriately
  • Ensure financial affairs are managed responsibly
  • Not allow the charity to operate while insolvent

SELECTION CRITERIA — ESSENTIAL

We are seeking someone who has:

  • Financial competence in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to a non-specialist board
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Tech proficiency with accounting tools and video conferencing
  • Commitment to AMAPP's mission and values
  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check prior to appointment
  • Not listed on the ASIC/ACNC Disqualified Persons Register

SELECTION CRITERIA — HIGHLY VALUED

  • CPA/CA qualification or NFP governance experience
  • Knowledge of ACNC compliance and charity reporting
  • Experience with grants, fundraising, or donor engagement
  • Previous board or treasurer role in a not-for-profit organisation
  • Understanding of trauma-informed, equity-based approaches
  • Lived experience with mental health or psychedelic therapy

APPOINTMENT PROCESS : New Treasurers begin with a 3-month trial period attending board meetings and performing.Treasurer duties before formal appointment is notified to the ACNC. Ongoing terms are as per AMAPP's constitution.
